2. Problem statement
The problem occurs during my internship in
Sabah Softwoods Berhad, Chipmill department where the fresh Acacia Mangium wood
log from the forest block cannot be processed immediately. This is because of
the skin of the fresh woods that cannot peel off easily because of its moisture
properties. The fresh woods must be dried first for 3 months or more so the
skins of the wood are dry. So, I decided to make a solution by making a wood
drying equipment to dry the fresh wood log until it reached a certain point
that the wood skin can be peel off easily.
3. Objectives

To research the Acacia Mangium wood
properties.
ii.
To investigate the time and heat used to
dry a single fresh Acacia Mangium wood log.
iii.
Fabricate the Acacia Mangium Wood Drying
Equipment
4. Scope of
research
i.
Research about Acacia
Mangium wood properties.
ii.
Design and fabricate the “Acacia Mangium
Wood Drying Equipment”.
iii.
Drying the fresh wood log using the “Acacia
mangiumWood Drying Equipment” until it reached a certain point that the wood
skin can be peel off easily.
iv.
Data obtain from drying the wood log are
recorded.
5. Expected outcome
The time and heat required
for drying the wood log are obtained.
